It’s finally happened – Australia’s working holiday age increases for UK applicants!
Working Holiday age increases for UK applicants
The Australia-UK Free Trade Agreement was signed nearly 2 years ago in December 2021. This agreement makes it easier for British people to live and work in Australia and vice versa. As part of this agreement, both Governments agreed to increase the eligible age for working holiday makers.
UK passport holders can now apply for a working holiday visa until the age of 35. Previously, UK applicants could only apply until the age of 30. UK passport holders can lodge an application for any Working Holiday (subclass 417) visa until midnight (AEST) on the day before their 36th birthday.
This will be welcomed news for those who want to live and work in Australia!
To see full details of the changes, please refer to the Government website.
Why choose a working holiday visa
A working holiday visa is a desirable option for migrants. This visa lets you experience Australia, with work rights allowing you to fund your travels. Other advantages include:
Quick processing times
Straightforward online visa application
Low visa application fee
Can be extended to 3 years if specified work is completed
This visa is temporary and has work limitations. Therefore, it’s not designed for those wanting to move permanently to Australia. You cannot include children on this visa, and each applicant must apply individually.
However, it may be a good ‘stepping stone’ visa, as it allows you to experience Australian life and discover employment opportunities at low cost. Some of our clients have found employer sponsorship opportunities after arriving in Australia as a working holidaymaker.
If you’re seriously considering a move to Australia, we recommend booking a visa consultation. Our migration agent Darren will explain your visa options to you, and help you decide the best pathway.

Are you an electrician moving to Australia? At Visa Go Australia we understand it can be a daunting process. Below, we outline key considerations when moving to Australia.
Electrician visa options
Electricians are in demand in Australia. This means there are lots of jobs and visa options available to you. Before you start spending money on the visa process, ensure you’re eligible to apply for a visa first.
Seeking advice from an experienced Migration Agent will help you understand which visas you can apply for. We offer visa consultations with our Migration Agent for just $100 AU. We think it’s a worthwhile investment before spending thousands on a skills assessment and visa.
Future Skills International conduct skills assessments for electricians
If you’re an electrician moving to Australia, you need to ensure you can work. The skills assessment is a part of this process.
You must be licensed to work as an electrician in Australia. Obtaining a positive skills assessment will issue with an Offshore Technical Skills Record (OTSR). Once you have an OTSR, you can apply for a provisional electrical license.
Having a positive skills assessment will also give you the option of applying for a permanent residency visa. This is the best pathway for those looking to move to Australia on a long-term basis.
If you’re applying for a short-term visa like the working holiday, you can use our skills assessment only service. This includes a dedicated case processor to help you obtain a positive skills assessment. It’s cheaper than our full visa service.
To summarise
Are you ready to move to Australia as an electrician? There may be several visa options available to you, so it’s best to speak with a Migration Agent to find out what’s best suited.

There are many reasons to move to Australia as an electrician. Keep reading to find out why!
Electricians earn big money in Australia
Electricians have high earning potential in Australia. Some parts of Australia offer salaries which are double that of the UK! If you’re looking for a better wage as an electrician, then Australia is a great option.
Maintenance Electricians earn between $80,000-$110, 000 AUD per year. In Western Australia, electricians can expect to earn $100, 000-$120, 000 AUD. This is the equivalent of around £69, 000 GBP.
Electricians working in the mining industry earn $112-$160, 000 AUD. In Western Australia, electricians can expect to earn $140-$180, 000 AUD. This is the equivalent of around £100, 000 GBP.
Australia offers opportunities for electricians to earn good wages, and in turn, an amazing lifestyle! Higher wages can offer the freedom to work less hours, have more family holidays, or even retire early! The potential to work in Australia and comfortably earn $100, 000 is a great incentive to move to Australia as an electrician.
Plenty of job opportunities
The country’s low uptake of vocational training has created a shortage of traditional trades, such as electricians. According to National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), Electricians are among the most in-demand tradespeople in Australia. You will not struggle to find electrical jobs in Australia.
Electrician is in the top 5 jobs employers need filling across key industries (Hays Australia Salary Guide 2022-2023). This includes electrical jobs in mining, manufacturing, and operating industries.
So if you’re an electrician moving to Australia, there will be a job opportunity nearby.
The Australian lifestyle
If you’re considering a move to Australia, then it’s probably in search of a better life. In Australia you can expect an outdoor lifestyle with lots of sunshine. In summer it’s common for tradesmen working outdoors to start their day early to avoid the midday heat.
With an abundance of land, Australian houses are some of the biggest in the world. If you’re moving to Australia this can be a massive advantage. Imagine more living and outdoor space to raise a family!

Specified work for Working Holiday Visa
In order to qualify for a second and third year working holiday visa, applicants must complete specified work in regional Australia. To be eligible for a second year, you must have carried out at least 3 months of specified work. To be eligible for a third year, you must have carried out at least 6 months of specified work on or after 1 July 2019.
Currently, specified work includes the following industries:

Regional Australia can be determined by postcodes listed on the Department website.
Plant and animal cultivation in regional Australia is a popular choice for working holiday makers
Changes to specified work for Working Holiday Visa
The type and locations of specified work for working holiday makers is changing. From 1 July 2022, more areas of Australia will be classified as regional. Moreover, new job roles will be included as specified work.
These changes include:
add flood recovery work and areas for this work as specified work for these visas
update bushfire recovery work details to include voluntary work
increase the areas in which tourism and hospitality work must be carried out
You can complete our free online assessment to see if you qualify for a working holiday visa. Alternatively, you may wish to learn about Australia’s skilled visa pathways. These are suitable for those wishing to live and work in Australia on a more permanent basis. Moreover, you may choose this pathway if you’ve already used your working holiday visa or do not qualify. In most instances you can include family members in a skilled visa application.

Is now a good time to take your teaching career to Australia? As Australia reopens its borders and introduces visa incentives, now could be the perfect time to teach in Australia. Below, we outline some key considerations when making the move to teach in Australia.
A visa to teach in Australia
To enter Australia, you will need an appropriate visa. Below, we outline the main visa types available to those wishing to live and work Down Under.
Australian Working Holiday
A popular option due to the low cost and fast processing times, the working holiday visa allows you to live and work in Australia for up to 3 years. From 19 January 2022, visa holders can work for the same employer for more than 6 months, without requesting permission.
You must be aged between 18-35 at the time of application, and be an eligible passport holder. Full details and a free visa assessment can be found on our website.
Over the next 12 weeks, the Australian government will provide a visa fee rebate for WHM (Working Holiday Makers). WHM who travel to Australia and arrive between 19 January 2022 and 19 April 2022 will be refunded the visa fee ($495) for WHM visa application. The refund applies to both current offshore visa holders and new applicants who arrive within that period.
Skilled Migration
A skilled visa (subclass 189, 190 and 491) is suitable for those wanting to live in Australia permanently. This visa takes around 12 months to process, considering the different processes involved, and will cost around £3000. Depending on the subclass applied for, you will become a permanent resident of Australia or have a viable pathway to do so. You must be under the age of 45 at the time of invitation to apply for a skilled visa. You do not require an Australian job offer for this visa type.
Some Australian employers may be willing to offer you a job and sponsorship. An employer sponsored visa allows you to temporarily live in Australia whilst working for your nominated employer. You must first find an employer to sponsor you before applying for the visa.
Additional pathways could include a partner visa or student visa. You can learn more about these options on our website. For most Australian visas, applicants must not have any substantial medical or criminal issues.
The Government recently announced a temporary relaxation of working hours for student visas. This allows students to work more than 20 hours per week.
Teaching opportunities in Australia
Once your visa is granted you can turn your attention to securing a teaching job. If you are on a working holiday visa throughout 2022, you will have the usual option of doing casual relief teaching (supply/subbing/temp) or looking into securing a contract role.
For those on long term visas, the options are open. It can be a great idea to try some early childhood services or schools out first through casual work. However you may prefer to get straight into a role and have full ownership over the class/es you teach. The teaching opportunities in Australia are plentiful, and seeking advice from a recruiter such as ANZUK Education can be helpful.
Try teaching in Australia today
Camille at ANZUK Education agrees that now is a great time to teach in Australia!
“Over the past couple of years we have seen an increased demand for teaching professionals in Australia. This includes casual teachers and teachers in contract and ongoing roles across Australia. We work with early childhood services and schools throughout the East Coast of Australia in metropolitan and regional areas. If you are looking for a change, now is the time to pack your suitcase and start your Aussie adventure.” Camille at ANZUK Education

The Government has announced an important Australian travel update.
Australian Travel Update
From 15 December 2021, Australia will open its borders to a number of fully vaccinated travellers.
Since March 2020, Australia has enforced some of the world’s tightest border controls, including on its own citizens. Previously, only Australian citizens, permanent residents and immediate family members were allowed to enter Australia under covid restrictions. This exciting travel update opens Australia’s borders to a number of eligible visa holders.
Who can enter Australia?
Eligible visa holders include a variety of temporary and provisional visa holders. This includes students, working holiday makers and regional skilled visas holders. A complete list of eligible visa holders can be viewed on the Government website.
Travellers are encouraged to read over covid requirements closely before arranging travel. Vaccine and covid test requirements are detailed on the Government website. Moreover, strict quarantine requirements still exist in some states. State and Territory information can be found here.
Are tourists included in this update?
Visitor visas (651, 601, and 600) are not included in this Australian travel update. Therefore, potential tourists are still required to apply for, and be granted, a travel exemption. The Department’s website details who may be granted a travel exemption upon application.
If you require advice you can complete our Visa Assessment, and we will send you some free and personalised information.
We also offer visa consultations with an experienced Migration Agent for just £60.
Australia’s highly anticipated Federal Budget was released on 6 October 2020, and it has created a lot of chatter around migration planning.
The budget details how Australia’s resources are allocated, with particular focus on job creation and retention for Australia following the Covid pandemic. The budget is important to migrants as it sets out how many visa allocations are permitted for the year. Lower immigration levels create more competition for migrants.
Key immigration facts from the budget
The planned ceiling for the Migration Program will remain at 160,000 places
There will be a maximum of 160, 000 visas issued for 2020-21. This allocation is split between skilled, family, special eligibility and child streams.
Partner visa allocations have hugely increased
The Government has increased the Partner Visa allocation by a massive 82% this migration year. Over the last few years, processing times have dramatically increased for partner applications as more people have been applying than there are spaces available. There is a backlog of over 90, 000 partner visa applications which has created mass media pressure as families are kept apart.
Onshore Partner visas will receive priority
It is expected that 75% of Partner visas will go to those already in Australia. Moreover, the Government will be prioritising onshore visa applicants and partner visa applicants where the relevant sponsor resides in a designated regional area.
Lower allocations for Skilled and Parent visas
Skilled visas (subclass 189, 190 and 491) have seen a significant decline in places, which is perhaps unsurprising given the post-covid economic uncertainty ahead. We anticipate occupations on the PMSOL and onshore applicants will receive priority.
Parent visas allocations have decreased by 39% to 4,500 for the migration year. This is disappointing given the already long waiting times.

Sue’s replies to the many emails that I've sent her way over the course of this process, were always prompt and patient, and nothing ever seemed to much trouble. Sue’s experience and understanding of the processes, timelines and the strict format in which things had to be done, meant that she was able to advise us and provide guidelines, which meant that when we submitted each stage, we were not having to worry about delays due to incomplete applications.
